Job description
Traffic Control SpecialistThe City of Topeka is seeking hard-working individuals to serve as Traffic Control Specialists in the Traffic Operations division. Using a variety of equipment including aerial bucket trucks and hydraulic post drivers, this position installs and maintains City owned street and roadway signage, ensuring compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards. This includes fabricating signs using a computer-aided sign making system and operating a bed-mounted and walk-behind street striping machine and paint sprayer for the installation/painting of street, crosswalk and other pavement markings.This position requires heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, and standing long periods of time to perform the required job duties. Will require the ability to work a night shift during the crosswalk painting season and may be required to participate/assist in emergency snow removal operations.Minimum qualifications:High School graduation or equivalent required.Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license and city insurable driving record.
