Job Description Trailer Mechanic / Trailer Technician - Keep Our Fleet Moving Looking for a full-time Trailer Mechanic job near you? Join Averitt as a Trailer Mechanic / Trailer Technician and play a key role in keeping our fleet safe, efficient, and road'ready. Our mechanics do more than turn wrenches, they protect our drivers, support our customers, and keep freight moving. Whether you're an experienced trailer mechanic, diesel technician, or a recent tech school graduate, Averitt offers stable pay, modern shops, and long-term career growth in fleet maintenance. Hours: Tuesday - Friday 7 pm - 7 am or Monday - Thursday 7 pm - 7 am
What You'll Do: As a Trailer Mechanic / Technician, you will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of trailers and related systems, including:
Diagnose, maintain, and repair trailer components including:
Doors, brakes, tires, suspension systems
ABS systems, electrical systems, and hydraulics
Repair and replace trailer bodies including: sidewalls, rails, roofs, and floors
Perform major liftgate repairs.
DOT inspector certified
Brake inspector certified
Pay and Scheduling
Hourly pay for all time worked (not just wrench time)
Competitive pay with performance reviews every 90 days
4-day work weeks available at select locations
Tool and Equipment Support
$2,500 Tool Bonus for qualified mechanics
$1,250 after 90 days, $1,250 after 180 days

More than 3 moving violations within the past 3 years will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
Training and certification requirements
Preventive maintenance inspection - requires bending and stooping
Lubrication - requires bending and stooping
Oil change - requires bending and stooping
Brake system repair - lift requirement: 105 lbs
Driveline component repair - lift requirement: 95 lbs
Trailer body repair - lift requirement: 100 lbs
Tire maintenance - lift requirement: 95 lbs
Diesel engine repair - lift requirement: 80 lbs
Regular predictable attendance
Heavy-duty truck mechanical aptitude
Air conditioning certification
Heavy-duty brake certification
Remove and replace vehicle components
