Job description
Laboratory ManagerUnder the leadership of the Laboratory Director and Coordinator, ensure that all activities and assets of assigned section(s) are effectively managed in order to achieve departmental and organizational goals. This includes supervision of personnel performing those activities charge capture/compliance duties. Responsible for procedures on various patient specimens giving careful attention to safety, quality assurance and regulatory guidelines including documentation of results. Work closely with lab director for data management, QA, PI, regulatory and other duties necessary for the smooth operation of the department. Baxter Health Compliance Responsibilities Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards and policies. Required to work with the Director of Laboratory regularly to carry out, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Laboratory Department.Education: High School Diploma or equivalent with sufficient science classes to meet CAP/CLIA requirements Experience: 12 months on the job experience without attending a program or having a qualified certification Other: Specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; E.G., clerical/administrativePreferred Education: Any certification useful to the job to include Transcription and/or Healthcare Coding Primary Source Verification: Original Transcripts Safety Sensitive Designation: This position is deemed safety sensitive in accordance with Arkansas Act 593 governing Medical Marijuana. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without an accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Spend 8 hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse, daily. Ability to stand/walk, bend/stoop/twist, and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. Spends eight hours or more off and on in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse. Must have a keen sense of hearing and visual acuity. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. Must be able to respond and handle critical, highly stressful situations related Lab functions. Work Environment Laboratory Department or Clinic setting, within a hospital environment Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Hospital floor lab staff: Shifts can vary from 8, 10- or 12-hour shifts depending on days, evenings, nights, or weekend staffing Office staff: 5 days a week, Monday Friday, 8-hour shifts.
