nJob Description

nAECOM is seeking a T ransit/Rail Design Engineer III to be based in Murray, UT .

nJOB SUMMARY:

Immediately adjacent to the Wasatch Mountains and 30 minutes from 10 ski resorts, Salt Lake City remains a best kept secret, and not just for its proximity to the resorts. nThe mid-level civil engineer role is a key position that will be based in Utah and report into the US West Region Transit/Rail Engineering Group. This person will have the opportunity to work on a diverse set of exciting transit projects with the transit/rail group with a focus on supporting the regional Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) design team.

nJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

nnnServe as a designer and/or technical task leader on planning studies, preliminary design studies, and final design of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) or Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects, and will coordinate, cooperate, and work collaboratively with others team members as well as support business development.

nnPerform specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment supporting a senior engineer.

n

nnPrepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids for BRT and LRT infrastructure

n

nnDevelop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.

n

nnProvides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

n

nnCoordinate tasks and provides leadership and mentorship to entry-level engineers.

n

nnPerform work in accordance with the agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

n

nnWork independently and with other team members to complete all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.

n nQualifications

nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

nnBA/BS + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

n nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

nnnBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

n

nnProfessional Engineering license in Utah (or ability to obtain)

n

nn4 years of relevant experience in transportation design, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

n

nnProficient with AutoCAD/Civil 3D or Microstation/Power InRoads or Power GeoPak

n

nnAbility to prepare engineering design reports and construction drawings for highway, roadway, transit, and/or rail.

n

nnAbility to collaborate and coordinate with design teams consisting of multi-discipline design engineers and technicians

n

nnBus Rapid Transit design experience

n

nnLight Rail Transit design experience

n

nnFamiliarity with BRT/LRT standards and best practices

n

nnExcellent communication and writing skills.
