Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) in Location . This role involves providing comprehensive maternal and newborn care within a hospital setting. The RN will deliver patient-centered care in labor and delivery, nursery, and mother-baby units, demonstrating expertise in growth and development principles across the lifespan.
Job Details
Position Description: The Maternal Child Health RN is responsible and accountable to a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to the patients via therapeutic use of the nursing process, in collaboration and integration with other health care team members. S/he demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care relevant to the patient(s) under his/her care, applying principles of growth and development over the life span. S/he assesses and interprets patient data needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. S/he functions in the role of a primary RN in the Maternal and Child Health fields, including Labor & Delivery, Newborn Nursery, Level II Nursery, and Mother-Baby and Gynecology patients. Additionally, the RN may be floated to other hospital areas as a resource, as directed by hospital leadership or the House Supervisor. When floated, they are expected to follow the guidance of the Charge Nurse or RN in the assigned department and maintain the same high standards of care and safety within their scope of practice.
Required Qualifications: Current New Mexico or Multi-State Licensure; Basic Life Support (AHA) required upon hire; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA) required upon hire; Neonatal Resuscitation Program required upon hire; AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification required upon hire; STABLE certification preferred; Baby Friendly experience preferred; three years experience in Labor and Delivery, Nursery, and Medical Surgicalminimum of 3 years experience.
Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
Additional Information: Every third weekend required. Block scheduling available upon request. The RN may be floated to other hospital areas as needed.
