American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Columbia, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/09/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Nov 9, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a secured 24-bed at-risk patient unit requiring an active MO or Compact RN license and 2 years of experience. Details 24-bed max capacity Medical Surgical unit focused on at-risk patients Secured unit with whole-unit video monitoring, ligature alarms, anti-barricade doors, and badge-secured entrance Day shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM Friday-Sunday block scheduling available, with 36 or 48 hour/week options discussed at interview 36 or 48 hour contracts available 1:5 patient ratio Mandatory floating required, including to MS/Tele units and as a Patient Observer (sitter) Cerner charting preferred but not required On-call responsibilities required Rotating shifts, holiday coverage, and work during inclement weather required Requirements Active MO or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration BLS certification required CPI Blue Card required for Behavioral Health RNs (can be pending at start, completed onsite at no cost) Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management preferred Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration preferred Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring preferred Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation Additional Information Provide direct patient care to at-risk medical-surgical patients in a secured unit environment Must be able to work in a healthcare facility operating 24/7/365, including exposure to contagious illnesses Required to work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none allowed during first week due to orientation Travelers residing within 50 miles are not eligible for consideration Travelers residing 51-74 miles away may be offered the position at a local rate Local candidates accepted but not eligible for extensions beyond the initial contract Travelers may work up to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts (9 months) before a mandatory 6-month break is required before returning in an agency capacity Re-orientation not required if returning within 18 months American Traveler Job ID P- .
