American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Columbia, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/16/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Nov 16, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 42-bed orthopaedic unit requiring MO or compact RN license and Trauma Level II experience. Details 42-bed Medical Surgical unit treating post-operative orthopaedic, trauma, ortho spine, medicine, and plastics cases Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM Day shift ratios of 1:5-6 and night shift ratios of 1:6 Every other weekend required Floating required, including to MS/Tele units and as a Patient Observer (Sitter) if needed Cerner charting system preferred but not required Accepts local candidates at a reduced rate Requirements Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration BLS required; ACLS preferred Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred LTAC experience preferred Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and chest tube management preferred Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia management preferred Wound care and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs Additional Information Provide post-operative care for orthopaedic, trauma, ortho spine, medicine, and plastics patients Work in a healthcare facility operating 24/7, 365 days a year, including during inclement weather Holiday coverage required for 50% of holidays occurring during the contract Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation First-time travelers are welcome to apply Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible to apply; those residing 51-74 miles away may be offered the local rate Local candidates are not eligible for contract extensions beyond the initial assignment American Traveler Job ID P- .
