American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in St. Louis, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/23/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 4x12hrs Hours: 48 hrs/wk Start Date: Nov 23, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience and an active MO or compact RN license. Details Medical Surgical unit within a Short Term Acute Care, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital Post-op medical surgical patient population, including bariatrics, trachs, Endo Onc, MIS, plastics, ortho, and ophthalmology cases Patient ratio of 1:5 Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30), with every other weekend required Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week Floating required within service line to meet facility needs No on-call requirements Unit supported by NPs Monday-Friday and 24-hour house staff coverage Phlebotomy services available 21:00-05:30 daily, with RNs performing EKGs as needed Uses Pyxis, EPIC, sit/stand lift, Hoyer lift, bladder scanner, and EKG machine Requirements Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence) Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required EPIC charting experience required Experience with phlebotomy, IV therapy, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and blood product administration Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and PCA Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and dysrhythmia management Strong teamwork, time management, and prioritization skills Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Teaching hospital experience preferred Previous charge experience preferred Additional Information Provide direct patient care for post-op medical surgical patients, including mobility assistance and CHG baths Utilize SBAR handoff communication process Navy blue scrubs required Must comply with facial hair fit-testing policy; no exceptions Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment First-time travelers are welcome to apply Pending license accepted at time of submission Returning permanent BJC/Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler Standard travelers may work up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service American Traveler Job ID P- .
