American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Columbia, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/09/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 4x12hrs Hours: 48 hrs/wk Start Date: Nov 9, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a secured, high-acuity 24-bed unit requiring 2 years of experience and a MO or compact RN license. Details Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) 24-bed max capacity Medical Surgical unit focused on at-risk patients Unit features enhanced safety measures including whole-unit video monitoring, ligature alarms, anti-barricade doors, and badge-secured entrance Patient ratio of 1:5 Every other weekend required, with options to discuss 36 or 48 hour/week schedules Floating required, including to MS/Tele units and potentially as a Patient Observer (sitter) Cerner charting system preferred Requirements Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration BLS certification required CPI certification required for Behavioral Health RNs (can be pending at start, completed onsite) Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Trauma Level I experience preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs Ability to work in a role that routinely involves contact with patients with contagious illnesses Additional Information Provide direct patient care in a secured med-surg unit for at-risk patients Work in a healthcare facility operating 24/7/365, including holidays and during inclement weather Required to work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract Rotating shifts may be required Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates accepted; those residing 51-74 miles away may be offered at a local rate, while those within 50 miles are not eligible American Traveler Job ID P- .
