Assignment: 13 weeksn
Start Date: November 16, 2026n
End Date: February 15, 2027n
Schedule: 36 hours per weekn
Shift: 12-hour nights, 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.n
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekendn
Holiday Requirement: Every other holidayn
Call Requirement: Nonen
Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5n
Charting: EPICn
Scrubs: Caribbean-colored scrubsn
Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements
n Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, in hand at the time of submissionn
At least 1 year of recent acute-care, progressive-care, or cardiac stepdown nursing experiencen
Current BLS and ACLS certificationsn
Recent EPIC experiencen
Valid driver's licensen
Experience interpreting cardiac telemetry and caring for cardiac stepdown patientsn
Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and a positive attituden
Previous travel nursing experience is preferred; first-time travelers are welcome to applyn
Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Responsibilities
n Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a 22-bed cardiac stepdown/IMCU unitn
Care for patients with cardiac conditions, post-open-heart recovery needs, cardiac catheterization procedures, pacemakers, Watchman procedures, and other progressive-care diagnosesn
Monitor and care for patients requiring chest tubes, tracheostomies, continuous CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and continuous bladder irrigationn
Titrate and monitor medications including Cardizem, amiodarone, nitroglycerin for blood pressure management, insulin, heparin, dopamine, and dobutamine according to clinical orders and policyn
Perform focused assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care teamn
Read and document cardiac telemetry while partnering with centralized telemetry monitoring supportn
Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in EPICn
Float to the ICU for PCU-level assignments or to medical-surgical units when neededn
Support safe patient care, effective communication, and a team-centered environment during nights, weekends, and holidaysn
