As a skilled and compassionate RN in the Emergency Department (ER), you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. This position is located at a leading acute-care hospital in Winston-Salem, NC, known for its Level 1 Trauma designation and commitment to excellence in patient care.
Unit Information:
n 55 horizontal beds, 6 vertical beds, 15 observation beds, and 5 behavioral health holding bedsn
Average daily census: 200-220 patientsn
Fast-paced environment with a variety of patient types, including trauma, stroke, and burn casesn
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
n Trauma/Stroke/STEMI/Burn cases, including GSWs, stabbings, multi-trauma, MVC, MI, CVA, hypothermia, drownings, falls, and overdosesn
Psychosis, pacing, vent management, blunt trauman
Patient Ratios:
n RN: 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 6:1 based on clinical area worked or acuityn
LPN: 4:1/5:1/6:1 based on clinical area worked or acuityn
Required Licensure & Certifications:
n RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (Resource Team Requirements)n
Support within the Department:
n ED Tech for ADLs, vital signs, I/O cath, foley placement, and phlebotomyn
Unit Secretary and Charge Nurse availablen
24/7 Critical Care Pharmacists, Paramedic Staff, and Hospitalistn
Telemetry monitoringn
Technology/Equipment:
n EMR: Epicn
IV Pump: Alarisn
Med dispensing: Omnicelln
Monitors: Phillipsn
Unit-specific equipment: GE Ultrasounds for point of care, GE EKG machinesn
Orientation:
n NEO and 2 days departmental orientationn
