Role Overview
nThe Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) is responsible for providing high-quality care in a fast-paced emergency department environment. This role requires a strong clinical skill set, the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, and the capability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities
n Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop nursing care plans based on individual patient needs.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Stabilize patients experiencing emergency health crises and provide immediate care for life-threatening conditions.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Monitor and document patient responses to treatments and interventions in electronic health records.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and ongoing care needs.
Participate in continuous education and training programs to enhance clinical skills and stay current with best practices.
n Qualifications
n Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia, with the ability to submit with a pending license.
A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in a Level 1 Trauma Center or 2 years in a Level 2 Trauma Center with pediatric experience.
Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC. TNCC certification may be pending but is required before start date.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
n Schedule and Availability
n This position requires working 3x12-hour shifts from 15:00 to 03:00.
Weekend shifts are required, with scheduled days varying based on departmental staffing needs.
Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major winter holidays.
Ability to accommodate a maximum of 40 hours for time off during the contract period.
n Contract Details
nThis is a 13-week contract position, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week. Block scheduling is not guaranteed.
