Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse opportunity available in a high-volume trauma center located in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing acute care to adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced environment, with responsibilities including triage, patient assessment, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The position is scheduled for night shifts, offering an engaging experience in emergency medical services.
Job Details
Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Valid driver's license, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), PALS (American Heart Association); 2 years of ER or equivalent experience.
Additional Information: Unit notes include a pass/fail exam during orientation requiring at least 90% to pass, and candidates must be within 50 miles of the facility without any full-time, part-time, or PRN commitments with related facilities.
Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails for patient care staff.
The ER has 33 beds (25 adult, 8 pediatric) and includes 2 trauma bays; ER staff manage their own patient holds.
No separate triage or psych/seclusion rooms.
Clinical staff includes nurse aides, paramedics, ED techs, and patient sitters.
Equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow heated oxygen, and EKG monitors, with all rooms capable of cardiac monitoring.
Radologists share patient transport duties with ED staff; nurse draws are performed in 95% of orders.
No call or standby required; floating to pediatrics ER is Required only to the pediatric ED.
Unit orientation lasts 1-2 days before independent practice.
Additional notes include a 13-week cancellation policy and charting via MEDITECH system.
