Registered Nurse – ICU (Intermediate Critical Care)

Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialized intermediate critical care for patients presenting with diagnoses including DKA, Sickle Cell, Sepsis, Respiratory Distress, Pneumonia, Heart Failure, and Stroke
Perform and manage IV starts, telemetry monitoring, cardiac telemetry, and titration of cardiac drips
Operate as a Rapid Response RN on the unit, utilizing rapid response team protocols as needed
Manage feeding tubes, Heparin protocols, PCA, and CVA care; operate specialized equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and Optiflow
Maintain a 1:4 patient ratio; float to Med/Surg as needed (1:6 ratio)
Document and chart using EPIC and PYXIS systems; adhere to self-scheduling requirements including a minimum of 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
Required Qualifications
Active RN license in NC or a Compact state (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience required
Current ACLS and BLS/BCLS certifications required
Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, titration of cardiac drips, Heparin protocols, PCA, CVA, feeding tube management, and use of rapid response teams
Local candidates are welcome; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible at an adjusted rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with Med/Surg or Telemetry and titration of vasoactive drips
Experience caring for ventilated patients
Wound care and wound vac experience
NIHSS certification
