Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Nights 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Projected Start: October 26, 2026
Key Responsibilities
Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the full nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned cardiac critical care patients.
Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed therapies, including management of multiple drips and high-acuity patients with complex comorbidities.
Support and manage patients requiring advanced cardiac interventions including post-cardiothoracic surgery recovery (fresh from OR), IMPELLA, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Arctic Sun, and TABLO XT/CRRT.
Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and connect with appropriate resources.
Required Qualifications
Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license
Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
Current ACLS certification required (AHA only)
Minimum 1 year of experience in a critical care setting
Must attend New Nurse Orientation within the first 30 days and complete all designated organizational and department-specific competency validations during onboarding
Preferred Experience / Skills
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Prior experience with CABGs and post-cardiothoracic surgical patient recovery
Familiarity with IMPELLA, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Arctic Sun, and CRRT/TABLO XT devices
Previous experience with Epic EMR
