Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0630–1830) | Onsite | Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday) | Minimum of 2 holidays within the contract period
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed ICU setting with an average daily census of 16, maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3 for adult patients
Manage and titrate a variety of drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
Assess, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment, with tele tech oversight also in place
Care for a diverse patient population including trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, overdose/substance abuse, post-stent, pacemaker placement, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
Manage patients on respiratory support ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation, including troubleshooting RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow)
Float as needed, typically to PCU and occasionally to MedSurg, maintaining comparable patient ratios (1:4 or 1:5)
Required Qualifications
Active RN licensure
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Candidates may not currently hold full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
Valid driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius compliance)
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; compliance is required as a condition of the contract
Must successfully pass an open-book orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher to continue placement
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior ICU experience with complex adult patient populations including trauma, cardiac, and neurological cases
Experience titrating cardiac drips, insulin drips, and sedation protocols
Familiarity with GE cardiac monitoring systems and strip interpretation
Experience working with patients on mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support
