Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Cardiac Stepdown unit with a patient ratio of 5–6:1
Document telemetry application, acknowledge and chart rhythm strips each shift, and manage Philips telemetry and MP2 monitoring equipment
Administer and monitor vasoactive and cardiac drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
Perform and assist with unit procedures including chest tube management, wound vac management, and ad lib EKGs
Conduct bedside and hourly rounding utilizing the 5P framework; communicate patient needs to PCTs at shift start and throughout the shift
Float to other medical/surgical areas as needed based on skill mix, including general M/S, Ortho, PCU, and M/S Surgical with Oncology
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum 2 years of RN experience
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
NIH Stroke Scale certification
Proficiency with Meditech (HCA version) documentation system and Pyxis ES medication dispensing
Ability to work the equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior cardiac stepdown, PCU, or progressive care nursing experience
Familiarity with Welch Allyn vitals equipment and Novameter glucose monitoring
Experience with telemetry interpretation and rhythm strip documentation
