Overview
nThis Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse role is ideal for a confident, adaptable RN who thrives in an acute care setting and enjoys providing compassionate, expert-level obstetric care. You’ll be part of a high-volume labor and delivery unit that manages labor support, OB triage, delivery, OR circulation, and postpartum transition for both mother and newborn.

Location: Tacoma, WA 98405n
Schedule: 12-hour night shiftsn
Shifts per week: 4 x 12-hour shiftsn
Weekly Hours: 48 hours per week guaranteedn
Contract Length: 15 weeksn
Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,580–$2,720n
Start Date: October 5, 2026n
End Date: January 16, 2027n
Unit Type: High-acuity Labor & Delivery / Birth Centern
Schedule Notes: Every-other-weekend rotation, with holiday coverage as neededn
Job Requirements
n Active Registered Nurse licensen
Minimum of 1 year of Labor & Delivery nursing experience requiredn
High-acuity OB experience strongly preferredn
Experience with labor management, delivery care, and triage of obstetric patientsn
Ability to circulate in the OR and assist with C-sectionsn
Skilled in cervical checks and interpreting fetal monitoring stripsn
Experience recovering birthing patients and newborns after vaginal and surgical deliveriesn
Current BLS certificationn
NRP certificationn
Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring certification (AWHONN)n
EPIC experience requiredn
Strong communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skillsn
Responsibilities
n Provide safe, compassionate care to laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patientsn
Manage high-acuity obstetric cases including hypertension, magnesium administration, preterm labor, inductions, and postpartum hemorrhagen
Support vaginal deliveries and C-sections, including recovery of mother and babyn
Perform OB triage, fetal monitoring, and thorough patient assessmentsn
Assist in the OR and support newborn transition when neededn
Collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, and unit support staffn
Deliver care in accordance with AWHONN patient ratio guidelines and unit protocolsn
Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and uphold unit standards for quality and safetyn
