Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Charge Nurse)

Schedule / Job Type
Contract (13 or 26 Weeks) | Nights | 3x12 or 4x12 Hours (19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a high-risk Labor & Delivery unit, including OB Triage, LDR rooms, OR suites, and PACU
Regularly serve in the Charge Nurse role , overseeing unit operations and staff coordination during the night shift
Manage and care for induction patients, high-risk antepartum patients, and third-trimester triage cases
Float to like units within the facility or affiliate hospitals as needed to meet staffing demands
Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records
Participate in holiday coverage, with an expectation to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)
Required Qualifications
Active Alaska RN license required; pending license accepted for submission, but license must be in hand prior to offer
Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience
Required certifications: BLS , ACLS , AWHONN Intermediate , AWHONN Advanced , and NRP
Hepatitis B vaccination required; titers and declinations are not accepted
2 references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required prior to start
Epic charting experience required
Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior Charge Nurse experience strongly preferred; candidates willing to train in the charge role will also be considered
Experience in high-risk obstetrics, antepartum care, or OB triage settings
Comfort working in a fast-paced unit with average daily deliveries around 7, with capacity for up to 14 patients
