Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Galesburg, Illinois.

Job Summary:
nMedical Surgical Floor (MS) registered nurse opportunity available in the area. This role involves providing care to diverse patient populations with conditions such as COPD, sepsis, CVA, COVID-19, pneumonia, and surgical cases. The position requires an adaptable, experienced nurse to work 12-hour night shifts scheduled to meet operational needs.
nJob Details:
nnSchedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, with self-scheduling available; the manager will assign schedules given the short contract duration, with attempts to accommodate block scheduling while meeting the every other weekend requirement.
nRequired Qualifications: Active Illinois (IL) license or confirmation of application initiation, BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA), a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, and valid registration to submit.
nDepartment Notes: 37 beds, a mix of private and semi-private rooms, with ratios of 1:4-6 on day shifts and 1:5-6 on night shifts. EMR system used is EPIC.
nPatient Care: Care for patients with COPD, sepsis, cerebrovascular accidents (CVA), COVID-19, pneumonia, and post-surgical recovery including hips, knees, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and bowel resections.
nAdditional Department Details: No vents on the unit; patient types include BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy. In-house hospitalists are available during days, with Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) coverage at night, and eHospitalist support during night shifts.
nCertifications: BLS (AHA).
nExperience: Minimum of 2 years necessary.
nFloat: Float to other floors may occur for those with the appropriate competencies, with full patient assignments always maintained during float shifts.
nOrientation: 2 days departmental and 1 day hospital/EMR training required.
nTravel and holiday requirements: Every other weekend and potentially working holidays, depending on schedule.
nNotes: No vents, but ventilator patients include BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow therapy.
