Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical Telemetry Contract in Charleston, WVn
Join a dynamic medical-surgical telemetry team as a Travel Registered Nurse in Charleston, West Virginia. This 13-week night-shift nursing contract offers the opportunity to care for a diverse adult patient population in a high-acuity environment, with patients ranging from uncomplicated medical cases to sub-critical conditions, including post-surgical, cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, orthopedic, and transplant populations. Healthcare Setting: Adult acute-care unit with cardiac telemetry monitoringn
Contract: 13-week travel nursing contractn
Start Date: October 29, 2026n
Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.n
Shifts per Week: 3 shifts for a 36-hour schedule or 4 shifts for a 48-hour schedulen
Weekend Schedule: Every other weekendn
Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680–$1,770n
Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5n
Electronic Medical Record: Cernern
Orientation: 16 hours; orientation is held every other Thursday and Fridayn
Floating: Within scope to like units as neededn
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Requirements
n Minimum 2 years of registered nursing experiencen
At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical telemetry experiencen
Active West Virginia or Compact Registered Nurse license; pending licensure may be considered for submissionn
Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Associationn
Experience caring for adult patients requiring cardiac monitoringn
Ability to work night shifts and every other weekendn
Willingness to float within clinical scopen
Two manager or charge nurse references from the past two yearsn
Compliance with seasonal influenza vaccination requirements; documented medical exemptions may be consideredn
Applicants should reside at least 100 miles from the assignment location; candidates residing 75–99 miles away may be considered for approvaln
Travel Nurse Responsibilities
n Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical telemetry patients with varying levels of acuityn
Monitor cardiac rhythms, assess changes in patient condition, and communicate findings to the interdisciplinary healthcare teamn
Care for patients with cardiac conditions, chest pain, COPD, diabetes, post-surgical needs, neurological and orthopedic diagnoses, and transplant-related care needsn
Administer and titrate ordered therapies, including Cardizem, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and heparin drips, according to policy and scope of practicen
Perform central-line draws and provide care for patients with chest tubes and CPAP/BiPAP therapyn
Collaborate with monitor technicians, IV teams, providers, and other members of the healthcare teamn
Accurately document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient responses in Cernern
Prioritize care for a 1:5 assignment while promoting patient safety, patient education, and quality outcomesn
