Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | Expected 36 hours/week (48 hours/week available upon request; overtime may apply after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts)
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a 41-bed Medical-Surgical unit serving a post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF population at a 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient ratio on day shifts
Perform and manage clinical skills including remote telemetry monitoring, chest tube care, NG/PEG tube management, straight cath/Foley insertion, ostomy care, Heparin drips, blood/blood product administration, tracheostomy care, and PCA management
Utilize strong assessment and critical thinking skills to manage a complex and high-acuity patient population
Float within skillset as first to float; may include mid-shift float within the same campus or cross-campus float to nearby facilities with a minimum 2-hour notice provided for cross-campus assignments
Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements: three weekends per six-week schedule and every other holiday
As a teaching facility, this role may require precepting of students and new hires
Required Qualifications
Active, current Compact RN License required
AHA BLS Certification required — must be attached upon submittal
NIHSS Certification required — must be attached upon submittal
Minimum 2 years of strong Medical-Surgical experience required
Minimum 1 prior travel assignment required
Trauma Level II experience required
Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience managing high fall risk patients and complex comorbidities such as COPD, CHF, and sepsis
Demonstrated ability to adapt to change, work resiliently in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
Familiarity with cross-campus float environments and multi-site health system workflows
