Job Summary
The Medical Surgical Oncology (MS ONC) specialty position is located on a dedicated oncology floor within an acute care hospital. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to adult patients receiving chemotherapy and other oncology treatments. The position offers a 12-hour day shift schedule, with an emphasis on maintaining clinical excellence in a high-acuity environment.
Job Details
Shift: 12-hour days
Schedule: 36 hours per week, from 10/12/2026 to 01/11/2027
Required Qualifications
Valid Illinois nursing license
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Active BLS certification
Chemo certification (preferred)
Experience with infusion therapy, port management, chemotherapy administration
Must be flexible to float within scope as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Cerner electronic charting system
Trauma Level I experience
Community hospital experience
Previous travel experience
Certifications
BLS
Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC)
OCN
ONS/ONCC
Additional Information
This role involves administering chemotherapy, managing central lines and ports, recognizing abnormal lab values, and providing patient/family education. The environment includes interdisciplinary support such as pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, and other services.
RTO Restrictions
Ideally no more than 5 days, must work at least 2 of 3 major holidays.
