Job Summary:
nThe Medical Surgical Oncology (MS ONC) specialty position is located on a dedicated oncology floor within an acute care hospital. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to adult patients receiving chemotherapy and other oncology treatments. The position offers a 12-hour day shift schedule, with an emphasis on maintaining clinical excellence in a high-acuity environment.
nJob Details:
nnShift: 12-hour days
nSchedule: 36 hours per week, from 10/12/2026 to 01/11/2027
nRequired Qualifications: Valid Illinois nursing license, minimum 1 year of relevant experience, active BLS certification, chemotherapy certification (preferred), and experience with infusion therapy, port management, and chemotherapy administration. Must be flexible to float within scope as needed.
nPreferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerner electronic charting system, trauma level I experience, community hospital experience, and previous travel experience.
nCertifications: BLS, chemo certification (ONS/ONCC), OCN, ONS/ONCC.
nAdditional Information: This role involves administering chemotherapy, managing central lines and ports, recognizing abnormal lab values, and providing patient/family education. The environment includes interdisciplinary support such as pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, and other services.
nRTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days, must work at least 2 of 3 major holidays.
