Job Details Specialty: PCU / Stepdown Registered Nurse Setting: Intermediate Care / Telemetry-Focused Unit Employment Type: Travel RN Location: Petersburg, VA Schedule: 12-hour night shifts Shifts per Week: 3 Weekly Hours: 36 Contract Length: 16 weeks Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 - $2,130 Start Date: 9/28/2026 Unit Focus: Adult and geriatric patient population Job Requirements Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state eligibility Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care RN experience required Experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Telemetry, or Intermediate Care strongly preferred BLS certification required ACLS certification required NIH Stroke certification required Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to recognize early signs of patient deterioration Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation and titratable cardiac drips preferred Prior travel nursing experience preferred Ability to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled Comfort with floating to comparable Med-Surg or Telemetry units when needed Responsibilities Deliver high-quality patient care using the nursing process from assessment through evaluation Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions including respiratory failure, CHF, sepsis, STEMI, GI bleeds, and more Interpret telemetry rhythms and respond quickly to changes in patient condition Administer medications and manage cardiac drips safely and accurately Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary care team members to support optimal outcomes Educate patients and families to promote understanding, comfort, and continuity of care Maintain accurate documentation and communicate patient status changes promptly Provide care with professionalism, adaptability, and a strong focus on patient safety Support a collaborative unit culture while delivering dependable care during night shifts If you are a skilled PCU Registered Nurse , Stepdown RN , or Telemetry Nurse looking for your next travel nursing job in Virginia , apply now and join this healthcare team in Petersburg today.
