Job Description
nWe are seeking an experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse to join our team in a dynamic and supportive environment. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients in a progressive care unit, specifically focusing on cardiology. This position requires a commitment to patient care, teamwork, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
n Provide direct patient care in a stepdown unit, managing a variety of cardiovascular conditions.
Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, as well as assess vital signs and health status of patients.
Administer medications and IV drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, and lasix.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to create comprehensive patient care plans.
Participate in daily rounds and provide updates on patient progress to the healthcare team.
Assist with the management of cardiac devices, including pacemakers and AICDs.
Provide education to patients and families regarding treatment plans and care protocols.
Participate in hospital committees and initiatives aimed at improving patient care quality.
n Qualifications
n Current nursing license in the state of practice.
2 years of experience in a stepdown or progressive care setting, including cardiac care.
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS.
Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips and respond appropriately.
Experience with BiPap and CPAP is preferred; must have a basic understanding of ventilator management.
n Shift Information
n Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
Every other weekend required.
Must be flexible to work holidays and shifts around holiday periods.
n Unit Information
n 44 beds with a ratio of 1 nurse to every 5 patients.
Fast turnover of rooms; the average census ranges from 32-38 patients.
Common diagnoses include post-operative CABG, CHF, and various cardiovascular surgeries.
Units are equipped with telemetry monitoring systems and the nursing staff is supported by a 24/7 pharmacy and respiratory therapy team.
n Additional Information
n Must adhere to the dress code requirements, including natural hair color and no visible tattoos or facial piercings.
Orientation to the unit will consist of three shifts.
Willingness to float to ICU as needed, under certain conditions.
