Qualifications
Active RN License
Degree from accredited nursing program
BLS, ACLS & NRP Certification
At least 18 months of recent experience in an Acute Care Mother/Baby setting
Other requirements to be determined by client facility
Duties & Responsibilities
The Postpartum / Mother‑Baby nurse (RN) educates and assists new mothers with physical and emotional needs during the postpartum period. They care for infants and educate mothers about care.
Responsible for caring for both moms and their newborns after delivery.
Monitors mothers in the hours following delivery to ensure proper recovery, recognizing postpartum depression and teaching mothers how to address emotions.
Teaches new parents how to care, bathe, breastfeed and/or bottle‑feed the newborn and monitors the infant’s health.
