NICU Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Level III NICU
Position: NICU Respiratory Therapist (RT) – Level III
Shift & Schedule: 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
Weekly Hours: 48
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
Minimum 3–4 years of recent Level III NICU experience required .
Strong experience caring for high-acuity and critically ill neonates.
Therapeutic cooling experience required .
Must be comfortable independently managing complex neonatal respiratory patients.
Strong experience with premature and extremely low-birth-weight infants.
Previous travel experience preferred for traveler positions.
Active Respiratory Therapist license as required by the state.
RRT credential required .
BLS and NRP required .
Responsibilities
Provide advanced respiratory care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates.
Manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
Operate conventional ventilators and high-frequency ventilation, including HFOV/HFJV .
Manage CPAP, BiPAP/NIPPV, high-flow nasal cannula, and oxygen therapy.
Assist with intubation, extubation, airway management, and emergency stabilization.
Administer respiratory medications, aerosol treatments, and oxygen therapy.
Assist with surfactant administration.
Obtain and interpret arterial, capillary, and venous blood gases.
Adjust respiratory support based on patient condition, blood gases, and provider orders.
