Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a Level II trauma teaching hospital, requiring 4 years of experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit within a teaching hospital setting
Adult critical care and emergency department patient populations
Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
Every other weekend required, with 2 of 3 winter holidays required
36 or 48 hours per week
13 or 26 week contract options
Must float within scope of practice as needed
Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
Current RRT certification and BLS required
VA state license required (temporary license accepted if candidate holds an active license in another state)
Minimum 4 years of experience required, though candidates with 2+ years will be considered
Teaching hospital experience required
Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
ACCS certification preferred
BSN preferred
Epic charting experience required
Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
Experience drawing and interpreting arterial blood gases
Experience with medication delivery systems including MDI, nebulizer, and aerosol setups
Two professional references required
License required if applicable
Additional Information
Provide respiratory care to critically ill adult patients including ventilator management and airway care
Perform chest physiotherapy, pulmonary hygiene, and suctioning procedures
Assist with bronchoscopy and manage patients with ARDS, aspiration, and pneumonia
Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with all time off disclosed prior to submission
No additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
No radius restriction for this unit
First-time travelers not accepted for this position
