Job Description
nThe Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport in and out of the facility as medically prescribed. This role involves evaluating patients and recommending effective treatment plans, while also educating patients on their conditions and treatments upon discharge.
Responsibilities
n Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen devices, and nebulizer devices.
Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various methods.
Monitor oximetry and capnography according to established policies.
Review patient's chest x-rays and perform routine pulmonary function studies.
Assist with respiratory care procedures, including bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, and chest tube placements.
Administer adequate drainage of the chest via PleurX catheter where applicable.
Perform arterial punctures and evaluate ventilation efficiency through monitoring and reporting test results.
Engage in cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
Set up, maintain, and operate various mechanical ventilation equipment.
Document all treatments and patient responses accurately in patient records.
Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and data entry.
n Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
nCurrent licensure as a respiratory therapist and relevant certifications in BLS and ACLS are required.
