Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for an acute care hospital day shift position requiring at least 1 year of experience and multiple advanced life support certifications.
Details
Acute care hospital setting covering inpatient units, ER, ICU, and med-surg floors
Patient population mainly adults with minimal pediatric and neonatal cases
RTs handle 20-25 treatments per shift, typically with 2 RTs per shift
Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic
12-hour day and night shifts , ), with rare shift variability
Rotating weekend coverage approximately every 3rd weekend
Holiday coverage required, 2/3 winter holidays and every other holiday otherwise
No floating or call/standby requirements
Equipment includes PB980, PB840, Servo-U, LTV1200, and Hamilton ventilators, V60 and home ResMed BiPap/CPAP, and Optiflow high-flow devices
Requirements
Minimum 1 year of experience required
Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS, and RRT (CRT not accepted)
WI state RN license required if applicable
Skilled in ventilator management, BiPap/CPAP, basic RT treatments, EKGs, and intubation assistance
Experience with King airway insertion in emergency situations preferred
Cerner EMR experience preferred
Additional Information
Responsibilities include basic respiratory therapies, ABGs, EKGs, BiPap/CPAP management, ventilator intubation weaning and extubation, and timely charting
RTs assist with intubation but are not required to intubate independently
May be asked to attend high-risk deliveries, though very infrequently
Works alongside hospitalist coverage 24/7 and intensivist support during the day, with eICU support overnight
Department-specific orientation includes shadowing, equipment review, and assigned shift orientation over 3 days
Dress code requires dark green scrubs
Teamwork and willingness to assist other therapists is expected
Previous traveler experience preferred but first-time travelers may be considered
Local candidates accepted, with radius rules applying to travel pay rate eligibility
Candidates with prior employment at the facility must have an end date at least 6 months before submission
