Job description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift hospital position requiring both adult and pediatric critical care experience.
Job Details
• Provides respiratory care in Adult ICU, Emergency Department, and Pediatric general care/PICU settings,
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM,
• Rotates every 3rd weekend and holidays,
• Epic EMR experience required,
• May float to any campus within the health system as needed,
Job Requirements
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required,
• Adult ICU, ED, and Peds general care experience required; PICU experience preferred,
• Servo I ventilator experience preferred,
• Active RRT license required (license required if applicable),
• NC state license required,
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred,
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred,
• Skilled in airway management, medication administration, vent management, ABGs, O2 therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, bronchoscopy assist, nebulizer treatments, BiPAP, and CPAP,
• Experience with ECMO, cystic fibrosis, and fresh tracheostomy care preferred,
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (two attempts allowed),
Additional Information
• Provides respiratory care for both adult and pediatric critical care patients,
• Performs ventilator management, weaning, and troubleshooting of high-pressure alarms,
• Handles airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care,
• Administers a range of respiratory medications and treatments including nebulizers, MDIs, and inhaled steroids,
• Cares for patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, COVID, and RSV,
• Completes non-billable orientation modules averaging 2-4 hours, with hours varying by unit,
• First-time travelers will be considered,
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local rates apply
