Job description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Case Manager for a Case Management/Utilization Review role requiring an active CA RN license and 2 years of relevant experience.
Requirements
Active CA RN license required
Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred
Minimum 2 years of recent relevant case management experience required
Broad knowledge of healthcare delivery and case management within a managed care environment
Comprehensive knowledge of Utilization Review, levels of care, and observation status
Familiarity with healthcare reimbursement systems (HMO, PPO, PPS, CMS, value-based models) preferred
Working knowledge of case management regulations including CMS, Title 22, CHA Consent Manual, CDPH, and TJC
Understanding of post-acute levels of care and related regulatory compliance
General understanding of coding and DRG assignment process preferred
Strong verbal, written, and negotiation communication skills
Excellent time management skills for high-volume, fast-paced environments
Intermediate computer and technology skills
Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
Responsibilities
Case Management department setting within an integrated delivery system
Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Monday through Friday schedule with no weekends and no call requirement
Coordinate patient care and promote collaboration among physicians, nurses, patients, families, and ancillary partners
Exercise independent judgment and sound decision-making with physicians, payers, and patients
Promote quality patient care and a positive patient experience
Function effectively within a team-based care model
Must reside within a 50-mile radius for local rate consideration
Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
Observed holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
Must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
7-year work history verification required for all candidates
