Job description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a combined ER/Med-Surg unit on night shifts, requiring ER and Med-Surg experience along with BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.
Requirements
Active RN license (Compact or SD State)
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg experience required
Critical access hospital experience preferred
EPIC experience preferred
Must be able to function in a charge nurse capacity in the ER, preferred but flexible
Responsibilities
Critical access hospital (CAH) acute care setting
Unit cares for Med-Surg, outpatient, and Emergency Department patients
RNs float daily between Med-Surg, outpatient, and ER areas
10 patient rooms with an average of close to 4 patients per day
Nurse-to-patient ratio averages 1:2 or 1:3, up to 1:6 depending on census and charge nurse status
Minimum staffing of 2 RNs per shift, typically supported by a PCT or LPN
Night shift, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend
Uses EPIC EMR
Equipment includes Philips central monitor/telemetry and Lifepak 15
No medication dispensing system on unit
RN works alongside another RN to provide care across Med-Surg, outpatient, and ER patient populations
Performs typical RN procedures including IV starts and foley catheter insertion
Orientation can be tailored up to one week, including exposure to both day and night shift operations
Dress code requires navy scrubs
All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
Applicants with prior employment at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
Local candidates within an 80-mile radius may be considered
