Job description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro patient care skills and a valid CA RN license for a 13-week travel assignment.
Requirements
Active CA RN license required
BLS and ACLS certifications required
NIHSS certification required
CPI certification preferred
Minimum 3 years of RN ICU experience required
At least 1 year of travel nursing experience preferred
Prior travel nursing experience required
Proficiency with neuro patient care including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory/thoracic care
Experience with central line, arterial line, and PICC line management
Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and acute/chronic renal failure management
2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required
Responsibilities
ICU setting with a high volume of neurological patient cases
1:2 patient ratio
3x12 hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
Every other weekend required, plus additional weekends based on unit needs
On-call as needed
May float to other units within scope of practice, including Summit or Herrick campuses, with shuttle service provided for floating
Uses Epic charting system
Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients with a strong focus on neurological cases
Care for patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator support, and multisystem organ management
Must reside within a 50-mile radius unless approved for travel rate
Holiday coverage may be required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only one holiday request approved per contract
Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
Returning staff or travelers must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible for rehire
Re-orientation only required if separated 6+ months since last shift at the same facility
Local candidates accepted at local rate
First-time travelers may be considered given sufficient ICU experience
