Job description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring NRP certification and prior surgical NICU experience.
Requirements
Active CA RN license required
BLS and NRP certifications required (AHA or ARC)
Minimum 1 year of recent NICU experience required
Charting system experience required (any system)
Prior travel experience required
Experience with neonatal cardiovascular, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, GI feedings and tube placement, isolation precautions/PPE, IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, IV vasopressors, surfactants, steroids, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
Responsibilities
Level III/IV NICU setting caring for surgical patients and neonates from 23 weeks gestation and up
Utilizes cooling therapy, all respiratory modes, PICC lines, bronchoscopy, LISA, VCUG, MRI, swallow studies, and line insertion
Patient ratio of 1:2-3
Night shift, 3x12 hours,
No on‑call requirements
Every other weekend required
Floats to peds/PICU/nursery
Provide comprehensive care to neonates in a Level III/IV NICU setting, including surgical and critically ill patients
Holiday coverage may be required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only one holiday request approved per contract
Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
Must be available to complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
Returning staff must have a one‑year separation before returning as a traveler
First‑time travelers are not eligible for this position
