Job description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU position requiring 2+ years of PICU experience and BLS/PALS certification.
Job Details
• General Pediatric ICU setting,
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3,
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30,
• Blocked schedules available: Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon,
• Schedule will fit the needs of the unit, including rotating shifts,
• Cerner charting system preferred but not required,
• Mandatory floating required, including Patient Observer/Sitter duties across the organization,
• On-call availability required,
Job Requirements
• Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration,
• BLS and PALS certifications required,
• TNCC certification preferred but not required,
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required,
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred,
• Previous charge experience preferred,
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products,
• Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management,
• Proficient in pediatric dosage calculations and administration of emergency medications including antiarrhythmics and IV vasopressors,
• Respiratory skills required including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care,
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring,
• Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs,
Additional Information
• Care for critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced ICU environment,
• Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year, requiring flexibility for rotating shifts and inclement weather coverage,
• Required to work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract,
• Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration,
• Travelers residing 51-74 miles away may be offered at a local rate,
• Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses should be expected,
• Non-billable training modules (4-6 hours) completed during orientation and annually
