Job description
American Traveler is hiring a Pre/Post Op RN with a minimum of 3 years of experience and an active Illinois RN license required for consideration.
Job Details
• Ambulatory surgery center setting in the PreOp/Post-Op unit,
• Average daily census of 25 patients in a 5-room unit,
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM,
• Floating required within the facility or to nearby affiliate locations as needed,
• Open to accommodating a block schedule,
Job Requirements
• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of application,
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted),
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required,
• Preferred experience in teaching hospital settings,
• Experience with pre/post-op care including pre-op assessment, medication reconciliation, discharge instructions, and patient education,
• Familiarity with conscious sedation, general, local, MAC, nerve block, spinal, and post-epidural anesthesia management preferred,
• Experience with neuro/spine, ortho, ortho/spine, ortho/total joint, and podiatry surgical cases preferred,
• SSN and DOB required for consideration,
Additional Information
• Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care including patient assessments, medication administration, and discharge education,
• Perform pre-op medication reconciliation, EKG/ECG acquisition, and consent verification,
• Administer and monitor procedural sedation and reversal agents as needed,
• Follow isolation precautions, PPE protocols, and malignant hyperthermia response procedures,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Local candidates are accepted for this position,
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler,
• Requested time off should ideally not exceed 5 days,
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays,
• Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility,
• Housing availability in the area may be limited, so early planning is recommended
