Job description
American Traveler is hiring a Chemo-Certified RN for a Pediatric Oncology position at a teaching hospital requiring PALS, APHON, and ONS/ONCC chemo certification.
Requirements
Active NC or Compact RN license required in hand
Minimum 1 year of pediatric oncology experience required
Required certifications: BLS, PALS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC), and APHON
Experience with chemotherapy administration, port access/management, and central line care required
Skilled in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, sepsis, hemorrhage)
Experience with biotherapy, bone marrow transplant care, and symptom management required
Knowledge of neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE protocols required
1 supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Responsibilities
Pediatric Oncology and BMT unit at a teaching hospital
Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
13-week assignment with bi-weekly orientation
Required to work every other weekend
Cares for pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients
Provide direct nursing care to pediatric oncology and BMT patients including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
Administer blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals, and other specialized medications
Manage pain control including IV push narcotics and PCA pumps
Collaborate with the pediatric care team and provide patient/family education and psychosocial support
Flu vaccine required October 31 - March 31 with no exemptions

Previous permanent employment at this health system must be disclosed and must not have occurred within the past 6 months
RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
