Job description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit / IMCU position requiring an active NY RN license in hand and Epic EMR experience.
Requirements
Active NY RN license required in hand, no exceptions
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
Prior travel nursing experience required
Epic charting experience required
Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Rapid Response/Code team utilization
Experience with peripheral line care/management
Experience with respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
Experience with non-invasive airway management and isolation precautions
Responsibilities
26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) functioning as a critical care step-down unit
Receives patients from the Emergency Department, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical floors
Adult acute care patient population requiring continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
Cares for patients needing airway management, acute BiPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated IV infusions
Patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg-level care
Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:00
Every other weekend required
Floating required
Care for critical care step-down patients using a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach
Tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds
Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy and white
First-time travelers are accepted
Candidates must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility
Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
