Job description
American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown/PCU RN for a night shift position requiring SC or compact RN license and 2 years of telemetry experience.
Requirements
Active SC RN license or compact license required in hand prior to start
BLS and ACLS certifications required
NIHSS certification preferred
Minimum 2 years of stepdown/PCU or ICU experience required
Epic EMR experience preferred
Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management preferred
Experience with neuro stepdown conditions (CVA, craniotomy, TBI) preferred
Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator management preferred
Social Security Number required for consideration
Responsibilities
Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a 12-bed unit
Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7p-7a
Patient ratio of 1:4
Every other weekend requirement
Holiday rotation required
No on-call requirement
Floating required within scope to sister units/facilities, with agency staff floating first
Epic charting system used
Provide stepdown-level nursing care to cardiac, neuro, and telemetry patients
Royal blue scrub color required
Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility, as locals are not accepted
Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
First-time travelers may be considered
Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
All RTO must be submitted and approved prior to offer, with holiday RTO potentially delaying the process
Travelers may be required to support emergency response efforts during hurricane season (June-November)
