Job description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring MO or compact RN licensure and NIH Stroke Certification.
Requirements
Active RN license (MO or Compact) required
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
NIH Stroke Certification required for this unit
Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or related specialty experience required
Strong advanced assessment and critical thinking skills required
Experience managing vasoactive drips required
Familiarity with central line, PICC line, and chest tube placement procedures preferred
No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
Two professional references required for Missouri assignments
Responsibilities
36-bed Progressive Care Unit within a Level 2 trauma center hospital with Stroke and STEMI Accreditation
Patient ratios of 1:3 (AM) to 1:4-5 (PM), supported by patient care techs when stretched
Predominantly total RN-based care with unit secretaries available 7am-7pm for support
Utilizes BiPAP, Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, and Kangaroo Feeding Pumps
Documentation completed in Meditech
13-week assignment on 7P-7A night shift
Rotating weekend and holiday schedule with every 3rd weekend rotation
Floating required to the Telemetry Unit as needed, with priority given to bonus shift staff
Provide direct bedside nursing care including hourly rounding and bedside shift report
Participate in daily leadership rounding as part of unit patient experience standards
Required dress code: charcoal grey scrub tops with charcoal grey or black scrub bottoms, with black or charcoal grey jackets
Positive, team-oriented attitude strongly valued on this unit
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
First-time travelers may be considered
