Job description
American Traveler is hiring a Travel RN for a Cardiac/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring MI RN licensure and 1+ year of PCU or stepdown experience.
Requirements
Active MI RN license required
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Minimum 1 year of PCU or stepdown experience required
Experience with cardiac patient populations, chest tubes, cardiac monitoring, and cardiac drips required
PCU/stepdown and low-level ICU skills preferred
Associate degree in nursing required
Responsibilities
Cardiac Stepdown/PCU unit within a 225-bed specialty care hospital with Trauma Level 2 designation
36-bed unit caring for cardiac and stepdown-level patients requiring telemetry monitoring
Patient ratios of 1:5-6 for cardiac patients and 1:3-4 for PCU/stepdown patients
Common diagnoses include chest pain, VATS, stroke/TIA, pre and post open heart surgery, pacemakers, heart blocks, vascular issues, and CHF
Uses Cerner EHR
12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Every other weekend required
Call required only during low census periods
Floating required
Provide care to cardiac and stepdown-level patients including chest tube management and cardiac drip administration
Work within a collaborative team environment where teamwork is essential
Scrub color requirement: blue or navy, with blue jeans not permitted
Must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
Candidates cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
Cannot be employed elsewhere on a full-time basis while on assignment
