Job description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a compact or LA RN license in hand.
Requirements
Active RN license (Compact or LA) required in hand upon consideration
BLS required; ACLS preferred
Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
Teaching hospital experience preferred
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
Experience with chest tube management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and monitoring
Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration
Driver's license required for consideration
Responsibilities
PCU/Cardiac Telemetry/MS-Tele/Neuro Stepdown unit setting
Patient ratio of 1:4-5
Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45-7:15)
No call-in required
Epic EMR experience preferred
Provide care for cardiac telemetry, PCU, and neuro stepdown patients including CVA, seizure disorders, and spinal cord injury cases
Administer medications including heparin protocols and PCA, and monitor procedural sedation
Manage substance withdrawal and genitourinary care including continuous bladder irrigation
Orientation held five days a week
Two Manager/Supervisor references required prior to starting contract (Charge RNs not accepted)
Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
Former permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
All requested time off (RTO) must be listed on the profile and discussed during interview to avoid offer rescindment
