Job description
American Traveler is hiring a Neuro PCU RN with a TX or compact license and at least 2 years of PCU experience for a night shift assignment.
Requirements
Active TX or compact RN license required
Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience required
Prior travel nursing experience required
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
CPI certification preferred
Epic charting system experience required
Experience with cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings
Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration
Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and HFNC
Experience managing neurological conditions such as CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and TBI
Experience with cardiac drip management and dysrhythmia interpretation
Experience with IV insulin protocols and wound care/wound vac management
Responsibilities
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting specializing in Neuro PCU patients
Patient ratio of 1:4, occasionally 1:5, at night
Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours, 18:45-07:15)
Required to float divisionally, cover overflow, and take ED holds
Must work 2-3 holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
Provide direct patient care to neuro and cardiac telemetry patients in a stepdown/PCU environment
Monitor for dysrhythmias and respond using rapid response/code teams as needed
Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with no exceptions for positive results
Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
First-time travelers may be considered if experience requirements are met
RTO must be submitted at time of application or prior to accepting an offer
