Job description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a MedSurg/Telemetry position requiring 2 years of MedSurg/Telemetry experience and an active CA RN license.
Requirements
Active CA RN license required
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (PALS preferred)
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in MedSurg/Telemetry required
Previous Epic EMR experience required
Prior travel nursing experience required
LTAC experience preferred
Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and chest tube management
Experience with wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and management of dysrhythmias
2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
Responsibilities
Work in the MedSurg/Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital
Patient ratios of 1:5 for MedSurg and 1:4 for Telemetry
Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
Cardiac monitoring and telemetry patient population including CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, and cardiac drip management
Uses Epic EMR
Provide holistic, individualized nursing care including assessment, care planning, education, and transitions of care for acute patients
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to coordinate patient-centered care plans
Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to newly hired staff as needed
Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record and uphold patient confidentiality
Must live within a 50-mile radius to qualify for local candidate rate
Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before being eligible to return as a traveler
Maximum RTO is 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
Must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
