Job description
Traveling Fitter/WelderTradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Bridge Fabrication Structural Fitters/Welders for projects located in the Olean, NY area. This is a second shift opportunity, and the pay rate is $45/hour plus $125/day per diem for Travelers 60+ miles from the job site. Per diem is paid all 7 days of the week if you work the full schedule. If you are a Structural Fitter/Welder and want to work alongside other proven craftsmen who emphasize safety, productivity and superior craftsmanship, this is your chance to advance your career!Job Scope:Fit and assemble structural bridge components in a fabrication shop environmentRead blueprints and WPS sheets to lay out and fit beams, plate girders, stiffeners, diaphragms, splice plates, and other structural membersMeasure, mark, and align heavy steel to required tolerances prior to weldingUse fitting tools such as clamps, wedges, strongbacks, chain falls, and come-alongs to position components for weld-outVerify joint prep, alignment, and fit-up before welding operations beginRequirements:Minimum of 10 years welding experience in a bridge fabrication shopExtensive experience fitting heavy structural steel used in bridge constructionAbility to perform precise layout and fit-up directly from blueprints and WPS sheetsExecute welds in compliance with AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code standardsPass on-site 3G FCAW weld test subject to bend and X-ray inspection to meet NYS DOT requirementsAbility to read and work from blueprints and WPS sheets with minimal supervisionExperience with multi-pass welding on heavy plate and structural membersAbility to consistently maintain weld quality that meets visual and NYS DOT requirementsBe Safe from fraud!
