Job Overview
A law firm seeks a Senior Associate or Senior Counsel in Los Angeles, California, with 7-10+ years of experience in insurance defense. The ideal candidate is a proactive litigator with excellent writing skills, capable of independently managing their caseload and actively participating in the discovery process and trial preparation.
Duties
Manage a caseload of 10-20 matters
Investigate claims and develop case strategies
Draft and respond to discovery requests
Review and analyze documents for production
Conduct legal research
Take and defend depositions
Draft pleadings and motions
Attend hearings and argue motions
Prepare pre-trial and trial documents
Prepare cases for mediation/trial and participate in mediation/trial
Report effectively to clients
Supervise associates and paralegals
Requirements
Admission to the bar in California
Extensive litigation experience
Exceptional legal writing and communication skills
Effective oral advocacy skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
Problem-solving skills
Education
Juris Doctor (JD) degree
Certifications
California Bar Admission
Skills
