Tribal Lead Security Officer - Oregon CityJob Category: FacilitiesRequisition Number: TRIBA Posted: June 27, 2025Full-TimeOn-siteConfederated Tribes of Grand RondeGrand Ronde, OR 97347, USAJob DetailsDescriptionStarting Wage Range: $22.36/hr. - $29.00/hr.Job Summary: Maintains safe and secure environment for client, employees, customers and visitors by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel.Essential Functions:Assists the Tribal Security Supervisor in organizing the work schedule, including the officer's rotations and breaks.Represents the Tribal Security Program at meetings with other public or private agencies, groups and individuals when the Tribal Security Supervisor is unavailable.Ensures that officers have reported to work and are assigned duties in the absence of the Tribal Security Supervisor.Surveys premises and personnel by patrolling property both physically and by vehicular means; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities. Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities.Responding to intrusion and fire alarms. Assesses alarm activation and notifies proper emergency response agencies.Education, Experience, and Licenses:Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and (2) two years of security officer experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:Must possess or have the ability to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification within six months of employment.Must be able to obtain a DPSST certification within (6) six months of employment and maintain the certification and/or licensure requirements for a security officer in the State of Oregon, as determined by the State of Oregon Department of Public Safety and Standards Training (DPSST). (See Below for DPSST certification qualifications.)Meet all legal requirements to be able to work in the United StatesCurrent and valid drivers' license in state of OregonMinimum DPSST Requirements for Certification/Qualification as a Security Officer:Certified officers serve in positions of trust. Untrained and non-certified persons, or persons not of good moral character are not eligible for certification. See ORS 181.870 to 181.991 and OAR to .As required by DPSST, any person applying for or working as a Security Officer in the state of Oregon:Be at least 18 years of ageHave satisfactorily completed the training requirements for an armed or unarmed private security officer, as required by lawDemonstrate minimum standards of moral fitnessNot be required to register or be registered as a sex offender in any stateHave no disqualifying criminal history or convictionsHave no disqualifying history of mental illnessMeet any other DPSST certification requirementDPSST applicants are subject to Federal Bureau of Investigation and Oregon State Police criminal history records checks to determine if the applicant has a disqualifying criminal history.Conviction for certain felony or misdemeanor crimes may disqualify a person from certification and licensure.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with staff, the client and the public, to understand and follow standard operating procedures, to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance, to write and investigate required reports; to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures.Must be detailed oriented and have satisfactory literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities;Be able to work alone, responsibly and without supervision;Most positions require availability to work all shifts including day, swing, night, weekends and holidays;Capable of meeting the physical requirements below.Ability to speak and write clearly and effectively and the ability to meet the Department's physical standards.Must demonstrate good moral fitness and ethical standards;Must pass the character and criminal background check.Knowledge of Native American culture required.Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
