Job description
Trusts and Estates Attorney | Hybrid, Ventura County | $250,000 to $350,000
Estate planning work in Ventura County mostly doesn’t come off a website. It comes from a sister in law at a soccer game in Camarillo, or a ranch family in Santa Paula who’ve used the same lawyer since the eighties.
In this case the lawyer is a partner at a mid sized California firm who’s lived in the county their whole life and built a practice there over decades. No plans to retire. They’re realistic about it though, at some point they will, and they’d like the person sitting next to them by then to be someone the clients already know and trust.
So you’d work alongside them with high net worth families and, over time, take the practice on.
It’s mostly trusts, estates and wealth planning, private foundations included, plus trust administration when someone passes and explaining to the next generation what their parents actually signed.
A lot of the clients use the partner as their lawyer for pretty much everything, so LLCs, contracts and the odd real estate deal come into it too.
Three years in or twenty, with a book or without one. What they really care about is the county. If you grew up there, even better, because nobody can teach you that on the job.
You’ll need solid trusts and estates experience and to be admitted in California. A tax LL.M. is a nice extra, not a must. It pays $250,000 to $350,000.
They want to move quickly, so call me on or grab 15 minutes at . Tell me which part of the county you call home, because on this job that matters more than it usually does.
